Explore your neurodivergence through art

Join ART CLUB!

Join me each month to make art with a small group on Zoom. Engage with an art prompt to embrace your neurodivergence and support self-advocacy.

Members will have a chance to vote on themes such as: sensory overload, self-regulation, negative self-talk, setting boundaries, asking for supports, focus, etc.

Goals

  1. Reframe neurodivergence in a positive light

  2. Joy and sensory regulation through making art

  3. Kindle connection and neurodivergent friendship

  4. Share tools / resources / strategies

This is peer to peer therapeutic art.

I don’t have all the answers, but can hold space to share experiences and discuss possibilities together. This is not therapy, but a community for neurodivergent individuals to connect with and support each other while making art.

What does a session look like?

1.     Short demonstration of art materials or technique. (You are also invited to “go rogue” and use other materials if you wish.)

2.     Prompt for reflection while you create.

3.     Discussion and sharing (always optional.)

What are your qualifications?

This is not therapy and I am not a therapist. This is a peer to peer setting.

I am autistic artist, author, and academic. I received training and experience facilitating therapeutic art sessions during my postgraduate degree from Goldsmiths: University of London.

When will the Zooms occur?

We will meet at the same time each month so you can carve out space for this in your schedule. The call will be 2 hours with reminders for movement breaks. You can turn off your camera or step away as needed.

Time zones are tricky. Here is a visual of the time difference in the UK and Australia. (To check your own time zone I recommend the Time Buddy app.)

FAQ

Can I opt in for a single month?

Possibly. This will be a small group setting so there are limited spots available. If seats open up I will offer them on a first come first served basis via Instagram stories. Follow @neurodivergentspacetime for updates.

Building community and knowing I have a group of members to show up for is incredibly valuable for me. To reward commitment to a full year the cost of individual sessions is reduced.

What if I’m not an artist?

You don’t need to be! This is all about self-expression so you cannot “mess up.” We will making art for fun, for sensory enjoyment, and for self-discovery. You never have to show anyone what you’ve made including us (although we would love to see!)

What is neurodivergent? Do I need a diagnosis?

No diagnosis is necessary.

These sessions are specifically for self-identifying neurodivergent individuals including, but not limited to: hyper-sensitive, autistic, ADHD, OCD, synesthete, dyslexic, dyspraxic, dyscalculic, etc.

What type of materials are needed?

We will be working with simple, affordable materials such as paper, crayons, watercolors, yarn, cardboard, etc. You will have one month advance notice to gather supplies.

You are also welcome to be a rebel and use other materials you have access to.

What if I can’t attend?

Single tickets are transferrable meaning you can gift them to a friend.

I am only able to offer refunds if I find someone to fill your spot. Advanced notice is appreciated.

Member tickets are non-transferrable, but members have access to session recordings.

I’d like to participate, but I can’t due to finances.

It is really important to me that my offerings are accessible. To facilitate this I have a limited number of memberships that are open for trade. You can apply here. I am particularly interested in trading for your art, for family photography, for home cooked meals, for yoga classes, or for something you’ve made. But you’re also welcome to make other offers.
